Romans 1:1-17

Hello! This goes to all those out there who need a kickstart to their quiet time. And if you have any comments, please please let me know!

If you need resources, such as
Another translation (ESV) http://www.gnpcb.org/esv/search/?q=Romans+1
Or bible commentaries (Anyone knows of a trustworthy site?)
feel free to google. :)

Before you start, it's a good to get all your things, find a nice spot (not on your bed) and quieten down. Then pray and confess distractions in your heart and ask God to lead you in a time of 'chewing on his word'

Take your time to read through the first 2 parts of Romans 1. First is the introduction by Paul, and the second is his longing to visit Rome/ the purpose why he wrote this book. The sentences are quite long, so do read it over and over again until you get what he is trying to say. Don't hurry, and don't be anxious to finish all of Romans in 16 days. (plausible but abit hard for me)

Questions to ponder
1. In Paul's introduction, he gives a one-liner about himself, then shifts the focus to Jesus. How did Paul introduce himself? For a Roman citizen, which Paul was, to choose to be a servant was unthinkable. But Paul choose to be obedient and completely dependent to his beloved Master. What's your attitude towards Jesus? and How did Paul introduce Jesus? If you look at it carefully, it's actually a pretty neat summary of the Gospel. :)

2. Who was Paul writing to and why was he writing to them?

3. What is God saying to you today?

Write down a verse that especially speaks to you and pray:)

Additional Notes:
Paul: Read Acts 7:54 onwards to see the story of Paul unfold.

The foundations of the Christian faith are found in Paul's writings in the book of Romans. He also gives clear, practical guidelines on Christian living- how the gospel can tranform our lives and let God impact every aspect of our lives.
